Why start an online family tree? I think it’s not only the easiest way to organize, preserve and share your family history, but it’s also a direct link to missing information about your roots. And while accessing most of the record collections on Ancestry.com requires a paid subscription, your online family tree is completely FREE.

HOW TO BEGIN?
Simply enter what you know. Type in your first name, last name, birth date and place and those of your parents (if possible). Don’t worry if you don’t have more facts. This is the start of the treasure hunt. WHAT THEN? Ask your family for more. Family history is a wonderful excuse to pick up the phone or share a meal with siblings, grandparents and other loved ones. Use this time to ask your relatives about names, dates and places they remember from your shared heritage.

Ancestry.com will use every fact you enter to search billions of historical records, photos and family trees for missing details about your ancestors. The more you add to your tree, the more Ancestry can help you grow it. You don´t believe it, but there is so much in Ancestrys collections. I have tried this way and it has been a helpful way to add informations from other relatives in USA, and other countries. I have also get very interesting articles in several records online.
